Slices of History : Montreal’s Bread and Bakeries

From November 3, 2021 to March 6, 2022

Over the past few decades, many small “artisanal” bakeries have sprung up throughout Montreal’s neighbourhoods. Each offers a unique and varied range of products, often made from organic and local flours. These provide an alternative to the industrial bread that has become the norm for Quebec families in the last century.

Discover a few slices of the fascinating history of bread in Montreal, from homemade production in the early 19th century to the emergence of largescale industrial bakeries.

Exhibition presented in French only.
