Montreal History Museums are proud to present the first edition of the Festival d’histoire de Montréal, from May 14 to 16, 2021. Montrealers of all ages and backgrounds are invited to discover history in a whole new way, with all its many facets and in all the forms it takes. With its playful and interactive programming, the Festival d’histoire de Montréal offers innovative themes that allow us to connect our experiences to the society we live in and its origins.
For the occasion, the Écomusée du fier monde offers guided tours of Atateken Street, where the museum has been established since 1996.
From Amherst to Atateken
Walking Tours of Atateken Street

Strolling along Atateken Street means discovering the Centre-Sud district and a little bit of Montreal. The guided tour will acquaint you with its heritage, history and toponymy.
It starts at the former Bain Généreux, testament to a time when workers’ housing had neither bath nor shower. The tour will journey back in time, from the beginnings of industrialization to the recent changes brought to the Village and the Old Port of Montreal.
