René Rivard is a pioneer of Quebec’s ‘new museology’, whereby museums focus on and evolve with and for the community they serve. The Écomusée du fier monde, a history and citizen museum, has adhered to this museological approach since 1980.

This exhibition celebrates René Rivard’s 50-year career and showcases his vision and major achievements. The exhibit will highlight Rivard’s personal and professional journey and relate it to the evolution of museology, which shifts its focus from objects to ideas.
